Barack Obama har inte sagt något om kriget i Gaza ännu. Vad han kommer att säga när han blir det om ett par veckor vet inte jag, men i valrörelsen var han mycket tydlig. Många var osäkra var han stod i Israel-frågan innan han höll ett tal på AIPAC förra sommaren. Inte efter. Här är något av det han sa då:
"Our alliance is based on shared interests and shared values. Those who threaten Israel threaten us."
"The long road to peace requires Palestinian partners committed to making the journey. We must isolate Hamas unless and until they renounce terrorism, recognize Israel's right to exist, and abide by past agreements. There is no room at the negotiating table for terrorist organizations. That is why I opposed holding elections in 2006 with Hamas on the ballot."
"The Palestinian people must understand that progress will not come through the false prophets of extremism or the corrupt use of foreign aid."
"I will always keep the threat of military action on the table to defend our security and our ally Israel."
